CULTURAL ARTS SHOWCASE HAS BEEN CANCELED

It is with great regret that The 21st Annual Cultural Arts Showcase has been canceled.

Recent weather conditions and the poor economy have adversely affected registration and therefore the 21st Cultural Arts Showcase that was scheduled for March 4 & 5, 2010 has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

We profusely apologize for any inconvenience and will be mailing refunds as soon as possible.

2010 Showcase Directories will still be made available. Contact the Howard County Arts at: info@hocoarts.org or call 410-313-2787. Thank you!

REFLECTIONS ARTS PROGRAM

National PTA Reflections Arts Program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12 create and submit works of art in six areas: literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, film and dance. The students create art that supports a specific theme. This year's theme was "Beauty is......".  The Reflections Program is structured for PTAs to recognize students at the local, council, state, and national levels. Entries are first judged at the local level, where selected works, are chosen to represent the PTA at each subsequent level—council, state, and national.  Outstanding Interpretation of Theme, Awards of Excellence and Awards of Merit are recognized at the annual National PTA Convention and displayed in a virtual gallery on National PTA's website www.pta.org.

PTA Council of Howard County will host its Reflections Awards Night on March 16 at River Hill High School.

MD PTA MEMBERSHIP

Reminder:  All PTA memberships that have been sold this year and all unsold membership cards must be returned to MD PTA by March 31.  The Treasurer and the Membership Chair should get together and complete the invoice that came with your membership cards back in August and send in the dues (if you have not been doing this monthly as suggested) and return all unsold cards.

PERSONAL PROPERTY RETURNS must be filed by every PTA.  The Personal Property Return is due by April 15.  The PTA  probably does not own any property (or maybe it does) but being an incorporated entity, the PTA is required to file this form.  If your PTA did not receive one in the mail, you can download the form at: http://www.dat.state.md.us/sdatweb/pp1_2009.pdf

Helpful hints in completing the return:

The ID # prefix is “D”

The Federal Principal Business Code is: 81300

If the answer to C Section 1 is “No” complete questions D in Section 1 and skip Section II (2)

Section III (3) on page 3 must be completed

Sign and date the return, make a copy for your files and mail the document to the address on the top of the form
