ANNOUNCING THE NEW PTACHC OFFICERS

At the June 7th general meeting of the PTA Council of Howard County, the following officers were elected:
President: John Hannay
Exec. VP: Terri Chiu
VP of Operations: Chaun Hightower
VP of Issues: Venu Iyengar
Recording Secretary: Anne Johnson
Corresponding Secretary: Tom Comeau (plus he is our representative to MD PTA Board of Directors, thank you Tom)
Treasurer: Glenn Klein

2 FOR 1 OFFER BY PTACHC TO ATTEND THE July 17 MD PTA SUMMER LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
PTA Council of Howard County is pleased offer to local PTA's in the County one FREE matching registration to the Maryland PTA Summer Leadership Conference. The conference will be held Saturday, July 17, at the Maritime Institute in Linthicum, MD (just north of BWI airport). Registration fee will be $125. This offer is good for up to 35 registrations. 

To participate in this offer, complete the registration form for both participants, send the two forms along with a check made payable to MD PTA for $125 and send to PTACHC, 10598 Marble Faun, Columbia, MD 21044. PTACHC will then write a check for the 2nd participant and mail directly to MD PTA. DEADLINE IS JUNE 23!!!

Good-bye 2009-2010. Here comes 2010-2011!
The school year is ending and for most PTAs, those final weeks of activities were very busy. The Officers of the PTA Council would like to thank all the volunteers who contributed their time and energy in support of children this past year.
A new chapter begins as the new President and officers taking office on July 1 and to ensure a successful new year, it is important to take care of the details of transition. This means outgoing officers passing on their officers’ procedure books to the new officers, properly closing the financial books on June 30 and preparing and conducting the audit/financial review during the the summer. 
For the New Year, the new executive board should meet and set goals of the PTA and the budget that will support those goals. 
If, during your planning stages over the summer, you need PTA information, guidance, or have questions, please contact the PTA Council office by e-mail at ptachc@gmail.com. 

PTA Council is your link to Maryland PTA and National PTA. We are here to answer any questions you may have about whatever your PTA question might be. And if we don’t know the answer to your questions, you can be sure we will track it down for you. PTA is alive and well beyond the four walls of your school building. You are part of the “whole”. Feel proud of the accomplishments PTA has made in the past and will make in the future.

Have a wonderful and fun summer! Spend lots of time with your children. They will be grown before you know it. Use the summer months to refresh, renew, review, and revitalize yourself and your PTA. We look forward to seeing you at the first general membership meeting on Sept. 7th at 7:30 pm at the ARL, 10920 Route 108 (next door to the BOE).

CALENDAR

June 30 All PTAs close their financial books for the fiscal year 

July/August All PTAs complete their financial review/audit and send MD PTA a copy of their 
audit report to 410-760-6344 (fax)

July 17 MD PTA Summer Leadership Conference (remember PTACHC 2 for 1 offer, expires June 23)

August 30 School Begins

Sept. 7 PTA Council of Howard County general membership meeting 7:30 pm at ARL
